WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN:

If you want to unlock more energy each day, this episode will tell you exactly how through science backed protocols based on the latest science.

PAT’S TAKE

What I love most about what Dr Kristen Holmes (Global Head of Human Performance at WHOOP) shares in this episode is that it’s grounded in real-world data from thousands of WHOOP users around the world. A lot of what we hear in health and performance is tested in controlled environments but struggles to translate into everyday life.

What makes this different is that it’s built from how people are actually living, sleeping, working, training and recovering. This makes the insights feel far more relatable and the protocols she shares, genuinely practical.

KEY IDEAS

Sleep consistency is as important as sleep quantity. The experts used to think that sleep quantity was the most important factor in determining daily energy levels and performance, but the latest science now shows that sleep consistency is just as - if not potentially more - important.

We thrive on rhythm. Our mind and bodies operate best when we send consistent signals each day. Whether that be consistency in our sleep-wake timing, getting more sunlight, when we eat and when we move.

Circadian rhythm is the foundation. The potential benefits of all that we layer on top (including sleep, movement & nutrition) are either amplified when our body clock is in sync or undermined when our circadian rhythm is misaligned.

The mind-body loop. Our physiology and psychology work as a two-way system. Our habits shape how we feel and how we feel shapes the choices that we make.

  • You’re interested in the science of sleep, circadian rhythm and human performance

  • You feel like you’re functioning “fine” but suspect that you are not tapping into your full potential
